811 Module Overview

811 Module Overview

The 811 Module allows organizations that receive 811 tickets from Dig Alert, USA North 811, Ohio 811, or other state mandated 811 providers to receive those tickets in NEXGEN. To fully utilize the 811 module, organizations must have an active 811 integration with NEXGEN. Turning on the 811 module will not automatically connect NEXGEN to your existing 811 system.

The benefit of using the 811 module in NEXGEN includes streamlining your responses under one platform (specifically if you already use NEXGEN for maintenance and asset management) and taking advantage of NEXGEN's 811 specific features including standard 811 fields, a unique response zone, cross over with 811 polygons and GIS, and our mobile device options for 811. While this article gives an overview of the 811 module, organizations not currently using 811 in NEXGEN should reach out to support@nexgenam.com to discuss the implementation of the module.

Navigate to the 811 Module

To navigate to the 811 module:
  1. Click Customer in the blue sidebar.
  2. Click 811.

The 811 Module in List View

In list view, you can see a preview of each 811 ticket's information as well as search or filter for any tickets. Click the checkbox next to one or more tickets to see the Multiple Edit option.

The 811 Module in Grid View

Click Grid in the top right of the module to switch to grid view. This is useful if you want to review fields from multiple different tickets at once or prefer viewing modules in a spreadsheet-like format. You can also export the spreadsheet to Microsoft Excel if you are more comfortable working with data in Excel.

Select one or more records to bring up additional options.

  1. Multiple Edit: Edit the fields of multiple records at once.
  2. Multiple Print: Print multiple records.
  3. Pin Selected: Pin the selected record(s) to the top of the spreadsheet.
  4. Unpin Selected: Unpin the selected record(s).

The 811 Module in Map View

Click Map in the top right of the module to switch to map view.

811 Records

811 records include an information zone with standard 811 fields as well as UDFs for those who want to collect more data. The other notable thing about an 811 record is the Response zone, where users can add a response code corresponding with whatever has happened with the ticket (e.g., work was done, work was invalid, etc.). These codes are configured in Lookups or are brought in from your 811 integration.

The 811 Dig Polygon

The 811 polygon displays the dig area on a map on the 811 record. This polygon is pulled from your 811 integration.

811 Response Codes

Unlike regular service requests, 811 tickets have a Response zone on their records. This zone is where you can add a response code to communicate what was happened with the ticket (e.g., work was done, work was invalid, etc.). Response codes are configured in the Lookups module or brought in from your 811 integration.

The slider below is what appears when you click Edit in the Response zone.
