Work Order Statuses - Work Order
The work order status is a label that specifies the current stage of work for the work order. This keeps everyone in the loop about the progress of the work being performed. See below for information about work order statuses, including a list of NEXGEN standard parent statuses and their definitions.

NEXGEN Work Order Status Definitions
Above is a screenshot of the status breadcrumbs on a work order. The ones listed below are NEXGEN standard parent statuses, but you can also create sub-statuses to indicate more specific information about the status the record is in (e.g., Supervisor Review and Invoice Needed under the Complete status above). See below for definitions for each NEXGEN parent status.
Status Name
| Definition |
New | Work has been created or assigned, but has not been started. |
Open | Work has been started and is in progress. |
Hold | Work has been started but is temporarily stalled. |
Complete | Work has been finished and is ready to be reviewed by a supervisor. |
Closed | Work has been reviewed and approved by a supervisor. The record is stored in NEXGEN as historical data. |
Canceled | Work no longer needs to be performed. |
Change the Status of a Work Order
You can change the status of a work order in one of two ways.
- Click the desired status in the status breadcrumb at the top of the record.
- Click Edit, then select the desired status using the Status field.
