Create and Edit Custom Notifications - Notifications
Administrators in NEXGEN can configure custom notifications for their users. Custom notifications can be created in the Manage Notifications module under Settings. Custom notifications are recommended if your users require notifications specific to your workflows.
Please note that the toggle to choose who receives notifications is currently only available for the Work Order, Service Request, and 811 modules.
Note: If you are an iPhone user, you must enable MMS Messaging and Group Messaging to receive text notifications from NEXGEN. To do this, go to Settings > Messages and toggle on MMS Messaging and Group Messages. For additional information on these settings please see our

Create a New Custom Notification
To configure a custom notification, follow the steps below.
- Navigate to the "Manage Notifications" module.
Click the "Settings" wheel from your dashboard.
- Hover over the notifications icon and click > Manage Notifications.
- Make sure the left sidebar is visible.
- If the sidebar is not visible click the 3 gray lines on the top left-hand side of the screen.
- Expand the "Custom Notifications" section by clicking on the custom notifications bar.
- Select the module that you would like to add a new notification for.
- More options will display. Choose the item for which you would like to create a custom notification.
- Fill out the empty fields as needed.
- Repeat for the SMS and email fields, if you want SMS and email options for your custom notification.
- Select the users who will receive this notification by using the checkboxes at the bottom that read Contractor, Requested By, Supervisor, etc.
- Configure the trigger for your notification by scrolling to the bottom of the screen.
- First, select the trigger type for your notification.
- Select the condition. Your notification will send any time the condition is met.
- Click the + button to add this trigger. Repeat these steps to add additional triggers.
Edit Custom Notifications
View Your Custom Notifications
Edits can be made by clicking the Edit button next to an existing custom notification. To view existing custom notifications:
- Navigate to the "Manage Notifications" module.
- Make sure the left sidebar is visible.
- If the sidebar is not visible click the 3 gray lines on the top left hand side of the screen.
Expand the "Custom Notifications" section by clicking on the custom notifications bar.
- Select the module that contains the notification you would like to edit. A list of your existing notifications will appear on the right.
Edit Your Custom Notification
After following the steps above, you should be able to see a list of your notifications. To edit a notification from this list:
- Identify the notification you would like to edit.
- Click the pencil icon next to it.
- Make your desired changes.
- Edit text by interacting with the text fields.
- Click the merge fields (blue buttons) below each text field to have your notifications populate with the corresponding information.
- Toggle who receives this notification by checking off the boxes labeled "Supervisor," "Resource," etc.
- Add or delete triggers as needed.
