Preventive May-tenance: PM Overview and Functionality in NEXGEN

Webinar Recording

Webinar Summary

To kick off the Preventive May-tenance webinar series, we spent the first session talking about PMs: what they are and how they function in NEXGEN. For more information, see below.

What is Preventive Maintenance in NEXGEN?

Though the term "preventive maintenance" might mean different things for different organizations, NEXGEN defines Preventive Maintenance as "scheduled or recurring work that is performed to ensure equipment and assets are inspected frequently and running properly." The purpose of Preventive Maintenance is follows:
  1. To enlongate assets' useful life.
  2. To reduce the number of critical breakdowns.
  3. To minimize production loss, or "downtime," due to equipment failures.
Preventive Maintenance is always a great thing for an organization to practice so its assets are running as smoothly as they can for as long as possible. It's also a great way to catch small issues with assets and address them before major issues arise -- thereby saving valuable time, money, and effort.

Other topics covered during this webinar regarding Preventive Maintenance included:
  1. PM Features
  2. Examples of PM Use Cases
  3. PM Schedule Types in NEXGEN
  4. Schedule Type Use Cases
  5. Selectable Options for Configuring PMs
  6. Event PMs

What are Event PMs in NEXGEN?

Event PMs are a relatively new and underutilized feature in NEXGEN that allows for a group of PMs to fire together. This differs from linked PMs in that Event PMs do not fire one after another; instead, they fire simultaneously.

During the webinar, we went over Event PMs in NEXGEN, including topics such as:
  1. Event PM Overview
  2. How to View and Create Event PMs in NEXGEN
  3. Event PM Use Cases
