Adding and Editing Inspection Types

Within the "User Defined" module users can edit all of their user defined fields. Currently inspections can be edited within NEXGEN or you can import information into NEXGEN using a downloadable template. To learn more about how you can edit inspection types including how to use the template, please look below.

Adding a New Inspection Type

To create an inspection type you must do that from the "User Defined" module. For help navigating to the "User Defined" module, please click here.
  1. Navigate to the "User Defined" module. (follow the sub steps below if you are having trouble finding the module)
    1. Navigate to the "Settings" module by clicking on the gear icon on the left hand side of your screen. If you cannot see the settings module on your screen, make sure you go back to your dashboard first by clicking on the NEXGEN hotspot.
    2. Click on the "Setup" icon. The icon looks just like the "Settings" module icon.
    3. Click on the "User Defined" icon. It looks like a pencil and paper.
  2. Click on the "+ Add" button on the top left of the screen.
  3. Select "Inspection Type".
  4. Type in the name of your new inspection type and click "+ Add". Make sure the "Active" box is checked if you would like your inspection type to be visible in NEXGEN.

Editing an Existing Inspection Type

Within the User Defined Module you can make a lot of changes to existing inspections. For help understanding the different actions you can perform on an inspection, look at the image below:

How to Change the Name of an Inspection Type

To edit an existing inspection, you must navigate to the "User Defined" module. For help navigating to the "User Defined" module, please click here.
  1. Within the "User Defined" module, locate your inspection type by clicking on the side arrow next to "Inspection" in the side bar. (If you cannot see the sidebar click on the three gray bars on the top left corner of the screen).
  2. Click on your inspection type from the navigation tree. Your inspection type details should populate on the right hand side of the screen.
  3. Click on the "Edit" button on the top right corner. The button has a picture of a pencil.
  4. The inspection type name should not be editable.  Type in the new name of the inspection and click "Save" when you are done.
  5. Your new inspection name should be saved.

How to Edit the Zones for an Inspection Type

To edit an existing inspection, you must navigate to the "User Defined" module. For help navigating to the "User Defined" module, please click here.
  1. Within the "User Defined" module, locate your inspection type by clicking on the side arrow next to "Inspection" in the side bar. (If you cannot see the sidebar click on the three gray bars on the top left corner of the screen).
  2. Click on your inspection type from the navigation tree. Your inspection type details should populate on the right hand side of the screen.
  3. Click on the "Manage Zones" button. A popup should appear.
  4. Within the popup you can add new zones, move zones, and edit zone names. For more information on editing zones within the popup screen please see the image below.
  5. When you are done editing your zones, click the "Close" button. Your changes should be saved.


How to Delete an Inspection Type

To delete an inspection type you must do that from the "User Defined" module. For help navigating to the "User Defined" module, please click here.
  1. Within the "User Defined" module, locate your inspection type by clicking on the side arrow next to "Inspection" in the side bar. (If you cannot see the sidebar click on the three gray bars on the top left corner of the screen).
  2. Click on your inspection type from the navigation tree. Your inspection type details should populate on the right hand side of the screen.
  3. Click on the "Delete" button on the top right corner of the screen. The button has a picture of a trashcan.
  4. You will be asked to confirm if you want to delete the inspection type. Click "OK" to confirm or "Cancel" to exit out of the pop up.
  5. Once you confirm your deletion, your inspection should be deleted.

How to Make an Inspection Type Active/Inactive

If you would like to make an inspection type active or inactive you must do that from the "User Defined" module. For help navigating to the "User Defined" module, please click here.
  1. Within the "User Defined" module, locate your inspection type by clicking on the side arrow next to "Inspection" in the side bar. (If you cannot see the sidebar click on the three gray bars on the top left corner of the screen).
  2. Click on your inspection type from the navigation tree. Your inspection type details should populate on the right hand side of the screen.
  3. Click on the "Edit" button on the top right corner. The button has a picture of a pencil.
  4. Select or deselect the "Active" checkbox. (A selected checkbox means your inspection is active, a deselected checkbox means your inspection is inactive).
  5. Click "Save".
  6. Your inspection type status should be saved.
