Make a Field Mandatory - NEXGEN 311

Make a Field Mandatory - NEXGEN 311

You can make certain fields mandatory so that users have to fill them out before they can proceed further with submitting a service request through NEXGEN 311. This is useful if, for example, you want everyone to fill out the description field when submitting service requests. See the article below to learn how to make fields mandatory via NEXGEN 311 configuration.

Navigate to the NEXGEN 311 Settings

To navigate to the NEXGEN 311 settings:
  1. Click Settings in the blue sidebar.
  2. Click Integrations.
  3. Click 311 Service.

Make a Field Mandatory

To make a field mandatory from the 311 Service settings page:
  1. Click Label Captions.
  2. Locate the label caption you want to make mandatory.

  3. Click the pencil icon next to the label caption you want to edit.
  4. Check off the Required box.
  5. If desired, fill out a message that appears if the field is not filled out by an end user (e.g., "Please enter a description.")
  6. Click Save in the bottom right.
Once the field is marked mandatory, 311 Portal users will not be able to proceed with submitting their service request until that field is filled out.
