Add a Parent or Child Location - NEXGEN 311

If you would prefer for NEXGEN 311 Portal users to be able to select locations from a drop-down menu instead of dropping a pin on a map, you can create set Locations in the Locations section of the 311 Service settings. Much like Problems in the 311 Portal, Locations work like a hierarchy with parent and child locations to choose from.

Navigate to the NEXGEN 311 Settings

To navigate to the Locations section of the 311 Service settings:
  1. From the NEXGEN dashboard, click "Settings."
  2. Click "Integration."
  3. Click "311 Service."
  4. Click "Locations."

Add a Parent Location

Parent locations are the categories under which child locations are housed. To create a new parent location:
  1. Navigate to the Locations section of the 311 Service settings.
  2. Click +Add in the top right to add a new parent location.
  3. Enter the location details.
    1. Name: Location name. Will be visible to end users.
    2. Display Message: Information about the location that will be visible to end users.
    3. Active Checkbox: Select this to make this parent location visible.
  4. Click "Save."

Add a Child Location

Child locations are locations housed within parent locations. To create a new child location:
  1. Navigate to the Locations section of the 311 Service settings.
  2. Click +Child next to a parent location to create a new child location.
  3. Enter the location details.
    1. Name: Location name. Will be visible to end users.
    2. Display Message: Information about the location that will be visible to end users.
    3. Active Checkbox: Select this to make this parent location visible.
  4. Click "Save."
